The History of Matawan Football

The Matawan Football program has a well known history as one of the most dynamic and successful programs at the Jersey Shore . Below are the achievements of the Matawan Football Program.







6 NJSIAA sectional titles, 12 overall (6 before current playoff system).

1975 (7-0 over Colonia in Central Jersey Group IV)
1988 (14-6 over Franklin in Central Jersey Group III)
1991 (28-14 over Ocean in Central Jersey Group III)
1992 (29-28 in overtime over Neptune in Central Jersey Group III)
2009 (28-12 over Manasquan in Central Jersey Group II)
2011 (3-0 over Rumson-FH in Central Jersey Group II)

2014 (27-7 over Carteret in Central Jersey Group III)

Former Head Coach: Joe Martucci (1984-2011), Career record: 197-82-1.
Matawan's career wins leader. Led the Huskies to five state sectional championships and nine division titles. Also played linebacker at Matawan and is a 1968 Matawan graduate. He was elected to the New Jersey Football Coaches Hall of Fame in 2011. Led Matawan to the Central Jersey Group II title in his final season in 2011.
